Baseball Game Preview: Randolph Cardinals vs. Cattaraugus-Little Valley Timberwolves

For the second straight game, Randolph will face off against Cattaraugus-Little Valley. The Cardinals are taking a road trip to face off against the Timberwolves at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Randolph is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 21-5 margin over Cattaraugus-Little Valley on Monday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Allen Root made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three). He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Randolph got a massive performance out of Connor Braley, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Braley has posted since back in May of 2024. Kevin McElwain was another key player, going 1-for-3 with four stolen bases and two runs.

Randolph always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .690. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Cattaraugus-Little Valley's defeat was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Randolph, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 5-7.
