Volleyball Recap: Russia Raiders vs. Versailles Tigers
Russia had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Versailles Tigers on Friday. While the Raiders didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Tigers 25-15 in the first set.
Russia started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 15-25, 25-23, 25-16, 25-14.
Hazel Francis paced Russia's offense, picking up 12 kills. Francis got some help from Izzi Chapman and her 15 assists. Aryana Cordonnier controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.
Leading Versailles to victory were Lauren Prenger and Rowan Schmitmeyer. Prenger had nine digs and three aces, while Schmitmeyer had five digs and three aces. That's the most aces Schmitmeyer has posted since back in October of 2024.
Russia didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-2 loss against New Bremen on the 19th. As for Versailles, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Anna on the 19th.
