Baseball Recap: Sierra Lutheran Snaps Seven-Game Streak of Losses at Home

Sierra Lutheran made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Silver Stage, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Falcons blew past the Nighthawks 11-4 on Friday. With that win, the Falcons brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Grayson Ricks was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-4. He is becoming a predictor of Sierra Lutheran's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 3-1-1 (and 1-10 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Sierra Lutheran let Shaun Castro and Noah Ramirez run wild. Castro scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Ramirez scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases Castro has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Drew Gleiser, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Sierra Lutheran always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. They are undefeated (3-0) when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Sierra Lutheran's victory ended a seven-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-11-1. As for Silver Stage, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season.
