Basketball Game Preview: Alexander Cougars vs. Rome Wolves

The Alexander Cougars will face off against the Rome Wolves at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Alexander's favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while Rome has been banged up by seven consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.

Alexander is headed into the game having just suffered their closest loss since February 22, 2025 on Tuesday. They fell just short of New Manchester by a score of 53-51.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Nimah Ibidunni, who went 7-for-17 to rack up 18 points and eight boards. She has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Oddyssey Murray, who shot 64% from the field on her way to 16 points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Rome came up short against East Paulding on Tuesday and fell 47-38.

Alexander's defeat dropped their record down to 14-5. As for Rome, their loss dropped their record down to 6-11.

Everything came up roses for Alexander against Rome in their previous meeting back in December of 2025, as the squad secured a 51-23 victory. In that contest, the Cougars amassed a halftime lead of 32-12, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
