Preview: Joliet West Tigers vs. Saint Ignatius College Prep Wolfpack
The Joliet West Tigers will face off against the Saint Ignatius College Prep Wolfpack at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Joliet West comes in on seven and Saint Ignatius College Prep on four.
Joliet West can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent game on Friday. They put the hurt on Plainfield Central with a sharp 35-12 victory. Given Joliet West's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 103rd, while Plainfield Central is ranked 281st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Among those leading the charge was Juan Rico, who rushed for 83 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 215 yards and a touchdown. Gavin Garcia also helped out with an impressive 110 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, Saint Ignatius College Prep gave up the first points last Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with a 23-10 win over Joliet Catholic.
Joliet West's win was their seventh straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 8-1. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-9 Joliet Central and 1-8 Romeoville (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 33.3% over those games). As for Saint Ignatius College Prep, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.
