Baseball Game Preview: Rifle Bears vs. Grand Junction Central Warriors

The Rifle Bears will head out on the road to take on the Grand Junction Central Warriors at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Rifle has given up an average of 9.6 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Rifle lost 16-9 to Battle Mountain on Saturday.

Remington Decrow made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 4-for-5 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. He is becoming a predictor of Rifle's success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is 2-1 (and 5-14 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Camden Kerns, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Grand Junction Central narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Montrose 14-12. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Red Hawks recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

The team relied heavily on Shane Siegrist, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyrus Kellerby, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Rifle has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-15 record this season. As for Grand Junction Central, their victory bumped their record up to 9-12.

Rifle beat Grand Junction Central 6-2 when the teams last played back in May of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bears since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
