Soccer Game Preview: Safford vs. Palo Verde

Safford and Palo Verde are an even 3-3 against one another since December of 2014, but likely not for long. The Safford Bulldogs will challenge the Palo Verde Titans at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Safford is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 6.6 goals per game this season.

Palo Verde will be up against a hot Safford team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. Safford never let Thatcher onto the board and left with a 2-0 victory on Tuesday. Luz Mendoza had the honor of scoring the game-winner for the Bulldogs.

Meanwhile, Palo Verde can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. They blew past Catalina 4-0. The high-scoring effort was just what the Titans needed considering they were shutout in their previous matchup.

Safford has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a massive bump to their 8-4-1 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 63 goals over those eight games. As for Palo Verde, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-8.

Everything went Safford's way against Palo Verde in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, as Safford made off with an 8-0 victory. Does Safford have another victory up their sleeve, or will Palo Verde turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
