Baseball Game Preview: Polk County Wolverines vs. Patton Panthers

For the second straight game, Polk County will face off against Patton. The Wolverines will face off against the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Polk County took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Patton by a score of 8-5. The win was some much needed relief for the Wolverines as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Noah Harden was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off 12 hits (and not a single walk). He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Polk County is 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 4-9 otherwise. Harden was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gunnar Alm, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Mark Jarrett, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Patton dropped their record down to 8-9 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Polk County, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-6 and their overall record up to 7-10.
