League recap: Rogers tops Jarrell to extend winning streak

Adding to the longest winning streak in 2A-2 Region IV District 14 this week, Rogers beat Jarrell 50-28. This was the team's eighth consecutive win.

Blanco scaled the state rankings by moving to 448 from 491 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Panthers climbed the ranks as a result of besting Lexington 43-21.

Tony Brown put up the best numbers through the air as the Cougars fell to Rogers. He finished with 15 completions for 154 yards and 1 touchdown. Brown's favorite target this week was Dacious Barr, who caught 4 passes for 50 yards.

Schulenburg's Ross Bludau and Jeffrey Lara led the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-4 quarterback Bludau has thrown for 1,405 yards this season, while Lara has 32 catches for 747 yards. De Sean Johnson from Jarrell leads the league in rushing with 924 yards.

Johnson of the Jeremy Beutler's team is just 76 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 107 carries Johnson has accumulated 924 yard this year.

The Cougars' offense has recorded 327 points this season, making them No. 1 in the league, while Schulenburg has permitted only 144 on the year.

Fans will be thrilled by an exciting game in the secondary when Tommy Bludau's team's Lara goes up against Jarrell's Brown.

Next week's game between the Shorthorns and the Cougars will feature a good passing match up as Bludau will test his arm against Brown's defensive ability.

An important game coming up in 2A-2 Region IV District 14 this week will be when Jarrell takes on Schulenburg. The Cougars are currently in third, while the Shorthorns are in second.

The league will see a high scoring game when Jarrell and Schulenburg face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Cougars comes in having scored 327 this season, while the Shorthorns have scored 198. Jarrell scored 28 points last week as it fell to Jeff Walker's team.
