Softball Preview: Tri-Central Trojans vs. Clinton Central Bulldogs        
        
		
            Tri-Central is 0-9 against Clinton Central since April of 2015 but things could change  on Wednesday. The Trojans will head out on the road to  square off against  the Bulldogs  at 5:00  p.m. Tri-Central has given up an average of 10.2  runs per game this season, but Wednesday's  game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Tri-Central is headed into Wednesday's   contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game  on Monday. They took  a  14-9 hit to the loss column at the hands of Elwood.
  Claire Conrad made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and  went 2-for-4 with two  runs, one  stolen base,  and two  RBI. She also  hit a  double, marking her first of the season.  Amelia Pfoutz was another key player,  getting on base  in all four of her plate appearances with two  runs, one  stolen base,  and one  RBI.
Meanwhile, Clinton Central fought the good fight in their extra-innings  match against Faith Christian  on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of  10-9.
 Nuriah Harvey was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She  struck out ten batters over  seven innings while giving up  four earned  (and six unearned) runs off   nine  hits. Harvey was also solid in the batter's box,  going 2-for-5 with one  run and one  RBI.
 In other batting news,  Carly Davison was cooking despite her team's loss,   getting on base  in all five of her plate appearances with three  runs, one  triple,  and two  RBI.
 Clinton Central has also been struggling recently as they've  lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record  this season. Those  defeats can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for Tri-Central, their record now sits at 2-7.
 Tri-Central might still be hurting after the  14-2 loss they got from Clinton Central  in their previous meeting  back in May of 2024. Can the Trojans avenge their  defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
