Baseball Recap: French Settlement Beats Woodlawn-B.R. for Their Third Straight Victory

French Settlement waltzed into their game on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Woodlawn-B.R. Panthers as they made off with a 12-2 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 12-6 back in March.

Brycen Valle made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched six innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three).

In other batting news, Hance Roussel and Jackson Chewning did most of the damage at the plate: Roussel scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Chewning scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave Chewning a new career-high. Trevor McMorris was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

French Settlement always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive matches.

French Settlement's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-16. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Woodlawn-B.R., they have been struggling recently as they've lost 17 of their last 18 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-25 record this season.
