Baseball Recap: Nicolet's Luck Changes for the Better on Wednesday

Nicolet barely beat Cedarburg the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Knights never let the Bulldogs get on the board and left with a 10-0 win on Wednesday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Knights as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak.

Jack Stuck made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over 6.2 innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Nicolet is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 0-7 otherwise. Stuck was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on James Wirth, who went 1-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Quinn Bork also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Nicolet was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Nicolet's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 2-8. As for Cedarburg, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-4.

Coming up, Nicolet will be playing in front of their home fans against West Bend East at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Cedarburg, they will head out on the road to challenge West Bend West at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Spartans will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Bulldogs surely won't give up without a fight.
