After losing to Pinelands Regional the last time they met, Monmouth Regional decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Falcons enjoyed a cozy 25-7 win over the Wildcats on Friday.
Monmouth Regional found their leader in sophomore Ryan Corwin, who threw for 140 yards and two TDs while completing 80% of his passes, and also punched in one score on the ground. Tyler Gustafson handled things on the ground, rushing for 100 yards and a rushing touchdown.
The victory got Monmouth Regional back to even at 1-1. As for Pinelands Regional, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.
Monmouth Regional and Pinelands Regional will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Falcons are set to square off against their familiar foe Keyport/Hudson Regional on Saturday. Meanwhile, Pinelands Regional will take on rival Lakewood at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
