Cuthbertson dropped their record down to 21-4 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sun Valley Spartans. The Cavaliers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Spartans earlier this season, when they won 10-7.

As for Sun Valley, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 14-11. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games.

For Sun Valley's part, Keller Weaver spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on ten hits. The Spartans are 6-2 when Weaver allows two or fewer earned runs, but 8-9 otherwise.

At the plate, Braxton McGinniss was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Ayden Matzke also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Cuthbertson does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Sun Valley, they have already played their next contest, a 5-0 win against Weddington on the 1st.
