Softball Recap: Wayzata Starts Season with Loss at Home

Wayzata unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Academy of Holy Angels Stars on Wednesday.

Ella Goodnature spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up 11 Ks.

The victory (which was Academy of Holy Angels' seventh in a row dating back to last season) raised their record to 2-0.

Looking ahead, Wayzata will head out on the road to challenge Buffalo at 4:03 p.m. on Thursday. The contest will give the Trojans their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Academy of Holy Angels, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Roseville at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
