Basketball Recap: Marfa Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Marfa hadn't done well against Van Horn recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Marfa Shorthorns took down the Van Horn Eagles 34-20. The victory was some much needed relief for the Shorthorns as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Marfa's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Van Horn, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Marfa will take on Dell City in a holiday battle at 6:30 p.m. on December 20th at. As for Van Horn, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on El Paso HomeSchool at 4:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
