Basketball Recap: Greenfield-Central's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Greenfield-Central extended their postseason success on Friday against Muncie Central. They put the hurt on the Muncie Central Bearcats with a sharp 60-36 win. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 17 games by 21 points or more this season.

Leading Greenfield-Central to victory were Braylon Mullins and Michael Johnson. Mullins almost dropped a double-double with 25 points and nine boards, while Johnson went 7-for-10 en route to 19 points in addition to five assists and five rebounds. Mullins' big performance that evening made it eight games in a row in which he has scored at least 24 points. Another player making a difference was Dallas Freeman, who posted nine points along with five boards and three steals.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Greenfield-Central was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. They posted 11 more assists than Muncie Central's also-impressive total of 11.

Despite the loss, Muncie Central saw an underclassman step up: freshman Jaxson Johnson shot 55% from the field to rack up 14 points. Tra'On Barnes also deserves some recognition as he scored his first point of the season.

The victory was the fifth in a row for Greenfield-Central, bringing their record for this year to 23-3. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 31 points. As for Muncie Central, they dropped their record down to 8-16 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home.

Greenfield-Central wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, an 83-76 loss against Mt. Vernon on the 8th. Muncie Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
