Baseball Recap: Millbrook Wins Going Away Against Heritage

While Millbrook put up plenty of runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Heritage. Millbrook put the hurt on Heritage with a sharp 11-0 win. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by six runs or more this season.

Connor Wright made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Jack Strom and Finn Clougherty did most of the damage at the plate: Strom scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Clougherty scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Those two runs gave Clougherty a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jake Schoch, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Millbrook always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .525. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Heritage only posted an OBP of .280.

Millbrook's victory bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Heritage, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-5.

Looking ahead, Millbrook will challenge Rolesville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Heritage, they will take on Holmes at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. Holmes will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Heritage surely won't give up without a fight.
