Baseball Game Preview: Slidell Tigers vs. St. Paul's Wolves

Slidell is 1-9 against St. Paul since April of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Slidell Tigers will host the St. Paul's Wolves at 6:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Slidell has eight straight wins, St. Paul's has seven straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Slidell is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past McDonogh 35 20-2 on Thursday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Tigers with their most commanding win of the season.

Tyler Rushing looked comfortable as he tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had over his last five games.

On the hitting side, Slidell let Troy Green and Charles Burdett run wild. Green went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Burdett scored two runs while going 1-for-1. The dominant performance also gave Burdett a new career-high in RBI (three). Xavier Paul was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases.

Slidell always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .742. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for St. Paul's offense. They fell 4-0 to Brother Martin on Tuesday.

St. Paul's defeat dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Slidell, their victory bumped their record up to 12-6.

St. Paul's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. Slidell has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.9 strikeouts per game.
