Basketball Recap: Blue Mountain Takes a Loss

If Blue Mountain was riding high fresh off their 64-25 takedown of Coffeeville last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Blue Mountain Cougars took a 43-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tremont Eagles. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 45-37 back in November of 2024.

Tremont found their leader in freshman Olivia Gillespie, who went 11 of 22 en route to 24 points in addition to eight rebounds and five steals. Paige Gillespie was another key player, putting up nine points and three steals.

Blue Mountain's defeat dropped their record down to 4-16. As for Tremont, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 13-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Blue Mountain has already played their next matchup (against Thrasher), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Tremont will square off against Wheeler at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Wheeler will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Tremont surely won't give up without a fight.
