The Oregon Hawks are taking a road trip to square off against the Genoa-Kingston Cogs at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Oregon will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
Oregon came out on top against Lutheran on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive 11-run fourth inning. The Hawks never let the Crusaders get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. Considering the Hawks have won 11 matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Brooke Halverson was a major factor no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in ten consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.

In other batting news, Oregon let Lola Schwarz and Isabelle Berg run wild. Schwarz went 2-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI, while Berg went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Schwarz is also on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Abree Barker, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Oregon kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Genoa-Kingston suffered their biggest loss since April 8th on Tuesday. They lost 19-1 to Stillman Valley. The Cogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Oregon's record now sits at 13-4. As for Genoa-Kingston, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-9-1.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Oregon hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .334. However, it's not like Genoa-Kingston struggles in that department as they've averaged .316. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Oregon might still be hurting after the 10-2 loss they got from Genoa-Kingston when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Hawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
