Basketball Recap: Churubusco Takes a Loss

After flying high against Fort Wayne Canterbury back in December of 2024, Churubusco came back down to earth. The Churubusco Eagles fell to the Manchester Squires 48-43. The Eagles lost against the Squires in their previous head to head back in January of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 53-23 score last time.

Despite the loss, Churubusco still got an impressive performance from Patty Wiggs, who went 7 of 13 on her way to 16 points and six rebounds. Wiggs is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. Brooklyn Sinclair was another key player, going 5 for 12 on her way to 11 points.

Manchester's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Peyton Ream led the charge by putting up 13 points in addition to five boards and four steals. Another player making a difference was Emma Walker, who posted three points in addition to 13 rebounds, six assists, and four steals.

Churubusco's loss dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Manchester, their record is now 6-10.

Churubusco wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 56-31 defeat against Fremont on the 10th. As for Manchester, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 46-42 win against Mississinewa on the 11th.
