Football Recap: Charlie Thompson and Andrew Stefanski Pace Golden Defense + How To Watch

Brighton came into Friday's game looking for another win against Golden, but Thatcher Matthews wouldn't allow it. The Demons blew past the Bulldogs 45-23 on Friday thanks in part to Matthews, who rushed for 77 yards and one touchdown on only six carries, and also threw for 167 yards and a pair of TDs. He got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 54 yards.

Golden didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Charlie Thompson and Andrew Stefanski. Stefanski got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Although Brighton took the loss, they still got scores from Caleb Fish, Devon Patton, and Ryan Wadsworth.

Golden has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 37.5 points this season. As for Brighton, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Golden will welcome Thomas Jefferson at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Brighton, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Chatfield at 7:00 p.m. on the 19th.
