Basketball Recap: Jay County Comes Up Short

Jay County lost against Wapahani back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Jay County Patriots took a 50-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wapahani Raiders. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 262nd, while the Raiders are ranked 36th).

Wapahani's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nate Luce led the charge by putting up 20 points and four steals. Those 20 points gave Luce a new career-high. Camden Bell was another key player, going 8 of 12 on his way to 19 points.

Jay County's loss was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-4. As for Wapahani, the win keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.

Jay County will host Muncie Central at 7:30 p.m. on January 4, 2025. As for Wapahani, they will head out to take on Blue River Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Wapahani is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.2 points per game this season.
