Baseball Recap: Southern Comes Up Short

Southern was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 15-4 to the Conotton Valley Rockets. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Indians of the 21-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Southern saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zac Mayfield, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Preston Pitts also deserves some recognition as he got his first hits of the season.

Southern's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Conotton Valley, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-1.

Coming up, Southern will face off against Leetonia at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Conotton Valley, they will take on Malvern at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
