Baseball Recap: Lakeland Christian Triumphs

On Friday, the Lakeland Christian Vikings beat the Osceola Warriors 7-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Vikings.

The team relied heavily on Mookie Rodriguez, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Those runs marked the first that he's scored this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Byrd, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3.

Rodriguez wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Lakeland Christian lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Lakeland Christian now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Osceola, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 3-2.

Coming up, Lakeland Christian will face off against Lake Wales at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lakeland Christian's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Lake Wales' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Osceola, they are taking a road trip to challenge Countryside at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Osceola: 3.6, Countryside: 3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
