Volleyball Recap: East Mecklenburg Finds Playoff Glory Versus Palisades

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but East Mecklenburg had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Palisades Pumas. The victory was familiar territory for the Eagles, who have now won three games in a row.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was East Mecklenburg who won the one that mattered. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 20-25, 25-21, 19-25, 15-11.

Adalberto Gomez was the offensive standout of the contest as he had 12 digs and two aces. He is on a roll when it comes to aces, as he's now served two or more in each of the last five games he's played.

Gomez wasn't the only good server: East Mecklenburg was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 15 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in nine consecutive matches.

East Mecklenburg's win bumped their record up to 14-4. As for Palisades, they moved to 10-6 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

As of now, neither East Mecklenburg nor the Pumas have any future games scheduled.
