Volleyball Recap: Taniyah Smith Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat Northridge

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Spanish Fort, Saraland was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They put the hurt on the Northridge Jaguars with a sharp 3-0 win. The Spartans were shut out 2-0 the last time they took on the Jaguars, so the Spartans were just returning the favor.

Saraland's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Taniyah Smith, who had 15 assists and four digs. Smith is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 12 or more in each of the last six games she's played.

Saraland's win bumped their record up to 35-8. As for Northridge, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 23-16.

Saraland does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Northridge, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Paul W. Bryant at 7:00 p.m. on July 15, 2026.
