Baseball Game Preview: East Burke Cavaliers vs. West Lincoln Rebels

The East Burke Cavaliers will venture away from home to challenge the West Lincoln Rebels at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. East Burke's pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so West Lincoln's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

East Burke took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They walked away with a 6-3 win over Lincolnton. The Cavaliers haven't had any issues with the Wolves recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Rhett Houston was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Mason Mosteller also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

East Burke always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lincolnton only posted an OBP of .303.

Meanwhile, West Lincoln suffered their biggest loss since February 24th on Wednesday. They lost 10-2 to Burns. The Rebels haven't had much luck with the Bulldogs recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

East Burke pushed their record up to 6-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for West Lincoln, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5.

East Burke suffered a grim 9-1 defeat to West Lincoln in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can East Burke avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
