Basketball Recap: Riverside Skates Past Boiling Springs with Ease

After losing to Boiling Springs the last time they met, Riverside decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Riverside Warriors blew past the Boiling Springs Bulldogs, posting a 69-39 victory. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 28th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 137th), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Elly Trickett, who went 9 of 21 on her way to 24 points and eight boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Garrido, who posted nine points along with eight rebounds and seven assists.

Riverside smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in five consecutive contests.

Despite the loss, Boiling Springs still got an impressive performance from Makenzie Kinard, who went 7 for 13 en route to 22 points and three steals. That was a full 56.4% of Boiling Springs' points, marking the fifth time in a row she's scored more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Karina Tsisun, who had three points and five blocks.

Riverside pushed their record up to 12-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.2 points per game. As for Boiling Springs, they moved to 6-9 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Riverside has already played their next matchup, a 53-49 loss against Gaffney on the 17th. As for Boiling Springs, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 72-27 defeat against James F. Byrnes on the 17th.
