Baseball Game Preview: West Hardin Oilers vs. Evadale Rebels

West Hardin is 2-8 against Evadale since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Oilers will square off against the Rebels at 6:00 p.m. West Hardin will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.

West Hardin is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 19-5 margin over Leggett on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Evadale waltzed into their game on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Wildcats by a score of 8-5. With that win, the Rebels brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.

Brayden Stinson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered five runs (all of which were unearned) on 11 hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kayden Hubbard, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Evadale is undefeated when Hubbard posts two or more runs, but 6-10 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Palmer, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Evadale's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-10. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for West Hardin, their victory ended a 13-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-16.

West Hardin suffered a grim 12-2 defeat to Evadale in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can the Oilers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
