Volleyball Game Preview: Piedmont Panthers vs. Sun Valley Spartans

Piedmont is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Wednesday. After both having extra time off, they and the Sun Valley Spartans will dust off their jerseys to challenge one another at 6:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

After dropping their season opener at home, Sun Valley is headed out to face a Panthers team ready to give their home crowd a win. Piedmont took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Porter Ridge on Thursday. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it seven in a row.

Piedmont started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 18-25, 25-11, 25-20, 25-16.

Meanwhile, Sun Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Covenant Day, falling 3-0.

While Sun Valley was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Covenant Day's winning margin in every set. The final score came out to 25-9, 25-11, 25-17.
