Basketball Recap: Green Valley Falls Despite Big Games from Tabitha Bwakamba and Jazmine Ramirez

Green Valley was the 43-37 winner over Moapa Valley when they last played one another back in December of 2019, but their luck changed this time around. The Green Valley Gators received a blow on Saturday as they fell 37-20 to the Moapa Valley Pirates. The Gators have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Green Valley's loss came despite strong showings from Jazmine Ramirez and Tabitha Bwakamba. Ramirez posted nine points, while Bwakamba put up four points in addition to ten rebounds and four steals. That's the most steals Bwakamba has posted since back in December of 2023.

Claire Cox was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 18 points and nine boards for Moapa Valley. Cox's morning made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Bekah Jensen, who went 5 of 10 on her way to 10 points.

Green Valley's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Moapa Valley, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-4.

Green Valley didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 30-28 defeat against Boulder City on the 21st. As for Moapa Valley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 28-17 win against Lincoln County on the 21st.
