Basketball Recap: Cottage Grove Comes Up Short

Cottage Grove and Newport squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Cottage Grove had to settle for second. They were beaten by the Newport Cubs 70-41. The Lions were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cubs earlier this season, when they won 63-53.

Cottage Grove has also been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-15 record this season. Newport's win bumped their record up to 14-7.

As of now, neither Cottage Grove nor Newport have any future games scheduled.
