Volleyball Recap: Benicia Snags Fifth Win in Last Six Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Northgate, Benicia was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They came out on top against the Berean Christian Eagles by a score of 3-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-2 back in September.

Benicia had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 12-25, 25-23, 25-22, 25-20.

Gabby Muller paced Benicia's offense, picking up 12 kills. Muller got some help from Piper Arcilla and her 19 assists. Jaida McAllister controlled things from the service line, finishing with five aces.

Despite the defeat, Berean Christian saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Anna McCombe had 23 assists and five digs. McCombe has been hot recently, having posted 21 or more assists the last three times she's played. Grace Geisler also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.

Benicia has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 16-13 record this season. As for Berean Christian, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 11 of their last 12 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-15 record this season.

Benicia will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against College Park at 6:30 p.m. As for Berean Christian, they will venture away from home to challenge Head-Royce at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
