Soccer Game Preview: Grapevine vs. Birdville

The Grapevine Mustangs are taking a road trip to face off against the Birdville Hawks at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Grapevine's defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past Ryan 4-0. Chloe O'Steen had the honor of scoring the game-winner for the Mustangs.

Meanwhile, Birdville entered their tilt with Richland on Tuesday with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. They were the clear victor by a 4-0 margin over the Royals. The Hawks' defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last six games.

Birdville pushed their record up to 9-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those four contests. As for Grapevine, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-6-3.

Grapevine beat Birdville by a goal when the teams last played back in February of 2024, winning 1-0. Does Grapevine have another victory up their sleeve, or will Birdville turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
