Basketball Game Preview: Philo Electrics vs. West Muskingum Tornadoes

Philo and West Muskingum are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2017, but not for long. The Philo Electrics will host the West Muskingum Tornadoes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Philo is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.4 points per game this season.

Last Tuesday, Philo was able to grind out a solid win over Berne Union, taking the game 47-40. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Electrics.

Philo found their leader in sophomore Rusty Trout, who went 6 for 10 en route to 15 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals. That's the most steals Trout has posted since back in February of 2024. Cooper Radcliffe was another key player, putting up 11 points and five steals.

Philo smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask West Muskingum). They claimed a resounding 78-38 victory over Crooksville. The Tornadoes have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 21 points or more this season.

West Muskingum is also on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.8 points per game. As for Philo, their win bumped their record up to 5-8.
