Softball Recap: Make It Six in a Row for Mira Mesa

Mira Mesa entered their tilt with Clairemont on Thursday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They blew past the Chieftains 12-4. This was a revenge game for the Marauders: when they faced off against the Chieftains back in April, they had to take a 4-3 defeat.

Brooklyn Haug was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, Aria Phruksukarn was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Bailey McBride was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Mira Mesa was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are 4-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Mira Mesa pushed their record up to 11-11 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Clairemont, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-9.
