Preview: KIPP vs. Mater Dei Knights
KIPP on the road again on Friday and play against the Mater Dei Knights at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. KIPP has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
KIPP pushed their score all the way to 65 last Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 70-65 hit to the loss column at the hands of Normandy.
Meanwhile, Mater Dei beat Nashville 46-37 on Monday. The win was just what Mater Dei needed coming off of a 78-45 loss in their prior match.
Mater Dei's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Drake Wagner, who scored 18 points. Garrick Winkeler was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with two steals.
KIPP has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season. As for Mater Dei, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-11.
