Basketball Recap: Dematha Takes Down Nationally-Ranked Gonzaga

DeMatha and Gonzaga (ranked 18th and fourth in the MaxPreps national rankings respectively) squared off in a high-profile game on Monday. The DeMatha Stags enjoyed a cozy 72-55 victory over the Gonzaga Eagles. Winning may never get old, but the Stags sure are getting used to it with their eighth in a row.

It was another big night for Ashton (Ace) Meeks, who went 8-for-14 en route to 24 points. The contest was his sixth in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Jacob Wallace, who posted seven points along with eight rebounds and three steals.

DeMatha pushed their record up to 22-5 with the win, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Gonzaga, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 24-4.

As of now, neither DeMatha nor Gonzaga have any future games scheduled.
