Football Recap: Kacey Mosby Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Desert Christian

The Heritage Academy Heroes were able to grind out a solid victory over the Desert Christian Eagles on Friday, taking the game 24-12. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Heroes.

Heritage Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kacey Mosby, who threw for 179 yards and two touchdowns. Another pass catcher making a difference was Kaelan Williams, who picked up 90 receiving yards and one TD.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Heritage Academy's defense and their five sacks. Eliseo Herrera was especially locked on to Desert Christian's QB and sacked him twice. Heritage Academy received some extra help from Jaiden Garfias, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

Despite the loss, Desert Christian saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Brock Payne threw for 209 yards and one touchdown while completing 77.3% of his passes, and also rushed for 46 yards and one score. Payne didn't just play on offense: he also made 11 total tackles and defended two passes.

Heritage Academy's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Desert Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Coming up, Heritage Academy will look to defend their home field on Friday against Scottsdale Preparatory Academy at 7:00 p.m. As for Desert Christian, they will head out to face off against Santa Rita at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
