Softball Recap: Genoa Central Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Genoa Central, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They blew past the Magnolia Panthers 13-4 on Friday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Dragons considering their two-run performance the contest before.

Ali Pierce was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, two runs, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Brenley Ward, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Genoa Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .741. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Magnolia only posted an OBP of .500.

Genoa Central pushed their record up to 3-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Magnolia, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Looking ahead, Genoa Central will head out to take on Horatio at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Genoa Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season. As for Magnolia, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Magnolia Panthers take on El Dorado Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
