Softball Recap: Wilmington Takes a Loss

Wilmington and Sharpsville squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Wilmington had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Blue Devils by a score of 9-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Greyhounds have suffered since May 22, 2024.

Avery Harlan made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Kyla Baney, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.

Wilmington has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-7 record this season. As for Sharpsville, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-7.

Wilmington does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Sharpsville, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 14-5 loss against Seneca on the 26th.
