Softball Recap: Foster Comes Up Short

Foster had lost seven straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 2-12 to make it eight. They lost 20-10 to the Renton Red Hawks. Even if the Bulldogs couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Sofia Puentes Hernandez led a balanced group of hitters, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with six stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That RBI was her first of the season. A'Mya Johnson was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four stolen bases, one run, and one double.

Renton's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-9. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Renton's side, Mayliahna Pitoau was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with seven RBI, four runs, and one triple. Those four runs gave Pitoau a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Adriuana Hunt, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.

Looking ahead, Foster will square off against Lindbergh at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something the Bulldogs surely won't give up without a fight. As for Renton, they will face off against Tyee at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Red Hawks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Titans have averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season.
