Cheyenne-Eagle Butte's loss ends four-game winning streak at home

Recap: Cheyenne-Eagle Butte Braves vs. Lakota Tech Tatanka

The Cheyenne-Eagle Butte Braves pushed their score all the way to 55 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They suffered a tough 75-55 defeat at the hands of Lakota Tech. It was the first time this season that Cheyenne-Eagle Butte let down their fans at home.

Despite the defeat, Cheyenne-Eagle Butte saw an underclassman step up: Damien Clown scored 18 points. Clown hasn't dropped below 16 points for three straight games. Easton Lawrence was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds.

Lakota Tech was led to victory by Gilbert White Jr. and Julian Tonche. White Jr. scored 15 points along with six rebounds and three steals, while Tonche scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. It was the first time this season that Tonche scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mackenzie Cass, who scored nine points along with two blocks.

Cheyenne-Eagle Butte's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-4. As for Lakota Tech, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-5.

Cheyenne-Eagle Butte will head out on the road to challenge the Buffalos at 7:45 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in South Dakota (Stanley County is ranked 99th, while the Braves are ranked 92nd). Lakota Tech is on the road again on Saturday and plays the Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on January 27th. Mobridge-Pollock is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
