Basketball Game Preview: Charleston Catholic Irish vs. Logan Wildcats

The Charleston Catholic Irish will square off against the Logan Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Charleston Catholic has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 214 points over their last three matchups.

Charleston Catholic is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Poca: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Charleston Catholic blew Poca out of the water with a 76-18 final score. With the Irish ahead 42-6 at the half, the game was all but over already.

It was another big night for Mary Rushworth, who went 8 of 11 en route to 21 points along with seven boards and five steals. Her evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ilyauna Evans, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds.

Charleston Catholic smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in nine consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Logan faced Williamstown in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. Logan fell 50-37 to Williamstown. The contest marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Charleston Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Logan, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-3.
