Football Recap: Highland Piles Up the Points Against Platte Canyon

Highland got themselves on the board against Platte Canyon on Saturday, but Platte Canyon never followed suit. They blew past Platte Canyon 34-0. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Highland had established a 27-point advantage.

Leading Highland to victory were Tyler Varra and Elijah Elder. Varra rushed for 76 yards and a pair of TDs on only five carries, while Elder gained 89 total yards and a touchdown. The dominant performance also gave Varra a new career-high in rushing touchdowns (two).

Highland didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Carter Jensen, Varra, and Teigan Federer picked up one apiece. Federer got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

The victory got Highland back to even at 1-1. As for Platte Canyon, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Highland has already played their next match, a 47-20 win against Wiggins on the 12th. As for Platte Canyon, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 36-12 defeat against Ellicott on the 13th.
