Basketball Game Preview: Archbishop Molloy Stanners vs. Holy Cross Knights

The Archbishop Molloy Stanners will square off against the Holy Cross Knights at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Last Tuesday, Archbishop Molloy came up short against Kennedy Catholic and fell 38-31. While losing is never fun, the Stanners can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 245th, while the Gaels are ranked 40th).

Meanwhile, Holy Cross was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They came up short against St. Joseph-by-the-Sea, falling 66-46.

Archbishop Molloy will have to contain Nafi Balde as she made an impact in Holy Cross' last game. She dropped a double-double with 21 points and 13 rebounds. Those 21 points gave Balde a new career-high. Mona Okorie was another key player, putting up six points and nine boards.

Archbishop Molloy's defeat dropped their record down to 3-11-1. As for Holy Cross, their loss dropped their record down to 5-19.

Archbishop Molloy didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Holy Cross in their previous matchup back in January, but they still walked away with a 48-42 victory.
