Softball Recap: Yucca Valley Triumphs

Yucca Valley took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Twentynine Palms, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Trojans sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over the Wildcats on Wednesday. Surprisingly, this marked the Trojans' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Layla Rhodes tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

On the hitting side, Yucca Valley's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Baleigh Sheperd, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and one run. Those two hits gave Sheperd a new career-high.

Yucca Valley's victory bumped their record up to 12-9-1. As for Twentynine Palms, they dropped their record down to 13-8 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home.

As of now, neither Yucca Valley nor the Wildcats have any future games scheduled.
