Soccer Game Preview: Hoquiam vs. Montesano

Hoquiam hasn't had much luck against Montesano recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Grizzlies will look to defend their home pitch against the Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. Montesano took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Hoquiam, who comes in off a win.

While Hoquiam's win against Tenino wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Grizzlies narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Beavers 4-3. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for Hoquiam considering their one-goal performance the contest before.

Meanwhile, after a string of six wins, Montesano's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They came up short against Raymond/South Bend, falling 6-0. Montesano were red-hot offensively heading into the game (they scored no less than four goals in the three matches prior), but Raymond/South Bend's defense proved too tough.

Montesano's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1-1 and their overall record down to 6-2-1. As for Hoquiam, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3-1 and their overall record up to 3-6-2.
